TERMS OF
SERVICE

The plain-English deal when you book with me. Last updated October 2026.

1. Who you're dealing with

VG Codeworks is run by Ric Lee, a sole trader based in Orpington, London. Contact details are on the Help & Contact page.

2. Quotes and bookings

  • Fixed-price jobs (coding packages and diagnostic scans) can be booked and paid for online. The price shown is the price you pay.
  • Retrofits, remaps, servicing and sourcing are quoted first. A quote is valid for 30 days.
  • What a car supports depends on its model, year and fitted hardware. If something you booked turns out not to be possible on your car, I'll tell you before starting and refund that part, or swap it for something that is.

3. Payments and deposits

  • Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna payments are taken securely by Stripe.
  • Quoted jobs may need a deposit to secure the date and order parts. It's taken off your final bill.
  • Parts are charged at the price agreed in your quote. The balance is due when the work is finished.

4. Rescheduling and cancelling

  • You can reschedule for free with at least 24 hours' notice.
  • You can cancel for a full refund at any time before the work starts. Under UK consumer law you have 14 days from booking to cancel. If you ask me to do the work within those 14 days and then cancel partway, you pay for the work already done.
  • If I've already bought parts specially for your car and they can't be returned, I may keep their cost.
  • If I need to cancel or I'm running late, I'll tell you as early as I can and rearrange or refund in full.

5. On the day

  • Please make sure I can safely park and work on the car, and have both keys available if possible.
  • Before any coding I back up your car's original settings, so changes can be reversed.
  • If I find a problem that makes a job unsafe or not worthwhile, I'll stop and talk it through with you before going further.

6. Your car, insurance and warranty

  • Remaps and hardware retrofits are modifications. You must tell your insurer about them.
  • Coding factory features generally doesn't affect a manufacturer warranty, but a manufacturer may refuse a claim if they think a change caused a fault. Coding can be reversed before a dealer visit if you want.
  • I only do road-legal work. I don't remove or disable emissions equipment (DPF, EGR or catalysts).

7. If something isn't right

I carry out all work with reasonable care and skill. If you're not happy, tell me as soon as possible and I'll put it right, or refund you where that's fair. This doesn't affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

8. AI quick check

The AI quick check on this website is an automated guide, not a diagnosis or professional advice, and it can be wrong. Don't rely on it for safety decisions. If a warning light or symptom worries you, stop driving and get the car checked.

9. Liability

I'm not responsible for faults that already existed, for problems caused by parts you supply, or for losses I couldn't reasonably have foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that can't be limited by law.

10. Discount codes

Codes are checked at checkout, can't be exchanged for cash and can't be combined unless stated. I may end an offer at any time, but I'll honour codes on bookings already made.
