For a remap or a hardware retrofit, yes. Insurers class these as modifications and not declaring them can invalidate a policy. Most convenience coding isn't a modification, but if you're unsure, ask your insurer.

The car, both keys if possible, and a safe place to park. For longer jobs, off-road parking and access to the car for the full session is best.

No. They're illegal on road cars in the UK and will fail an MOT. If your DPF or EGR is giving trouble, I can diagnose it properly so it gets fixed rather than removed.
